Mental Health PHP in Lehigh Valley

Mental health PHP in Lehigh Valley

Recovery Cove offers a highly structured, intensive level of care for individuals experiencing mental health challenges such as anxiety or depression. Known as our Mental Health PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program), this program allows participants to engage in daily therapy for six hours and then return home at the end of each session. This model is especially suitable for individuals who require more support than standard outpatient therapy but do not need 24-hour supervision.

Aside from recovering from your mental health challenges, our Mental Health PHP in Lehigh Valley will help you build a life that is rewarding and fulfilling. If you are ready to confront the issues you are dealing with and develop healthier ways to cope, contact Recovery Cove at 484-549-COVE. We have several levels of care. An initial assessment will help us determine if our PHP can help, or if you can benefit from a higher or lower level of support.

What Is a Partial Hospitalization Program for Mental Health?

The term “partial hospitalization” can sound intimidating, but it simply refers to a program that provides comprehensive care without having to stay in a hospital setting. It’s a step down from an inpatient treatment facility and a step up from a standard outpatient program. Most PHPs operate five days a week, typically for six hours a day, as is the case with our program. During this time, individuals participate in group therapy, individual therapy, family counseling, medication management, and life-building sessions.

While not intended as long-term treatment, a PHP can last a few weeks to several months. The length of the program depends on your needs, goals, and progress. Some of the main objectives we focus on are managing acute symptoms, teaching coping strategies and problem solving techniques, and preparing for a lower level of care, such as outpatient therapy. Recovery Cove’s Mental Health PHP is structured but flexible, allowing you to return home and spend time with your family and even work or attend school.

Key Program Components

Now that you know a bit more about what a PHP is, let’s talk about the main components.

Individualized Care Plans

Mental health is extremely complex, which is why each treatment plan must be carefully tailored to the individual’s needs. You will work closely with licensed mental health professionals to create a personalized plan that identifies your goals and challenges. As you move through our program, your plan may change based on your progress. It’s not unusual for participants to face new challenges that they must work through during their time with us.

Group and Individual Therapy

Daily group therapy sessions are more effective than people often realize. These sessions allow individuals to come together in a caring, compassionate setting to learn and practice essential coping skills. Individual therapy provides a safe space to talk about personal struggles or issues that you may not be comfortable discussing in front of a group. It takes place in a confidential, one-on-one setting with a licensed therapist. Both types of therapy play an important role in the healing process.

Medication Management

Our board-certified psychiatrists and nurse practitioners monitor prescriptions and make adjustments as needed, ensuring all medications are used safely. If you do experience side effects to the medications you are taking, they can be adjusted to minimize effects and optimize benefits. While not everyone requires medication to manage their symptoms, many do, and medication management ensures they are taking the right medicines at the right time.

Support group for mental health challenges

Family Involvement

When appropriate, we invite family members to take part in certain aspects of treatment. Loved ones play a big role in the recovery process, as they are responsible for supporting the person and providing them with a stable and loving home environment. The support and education that family involvement provides is crucial, especially knowing that even the most well-intentioned family members can accidentally reinforce symptoms without realizing it.

Life Skills Training

Our partial hospitalization program emphasizes the development of practical coping strategies for managing stress, handling conflict, and creating structure in day-to-day life. We work with individuals to help them set achievable goals and develop healthy routines. PHPs are not the final step in the recovery process; they set a healthy foundation that individuals can continue to improve their functioning.

Comprehensive Discharge Planning

Before completing the program, you will collaborate with your treatment team to design a robust aftercare plan. Aftercare is an important part of the healing process, as it involves ongoing support and treatment. This ensures continuity of care and smooth transitions to less intensive levels of support, such as outpatient therapy and support groups. Plus, if you do face new or additional challenges, you can always turn to your aftercare plan.

Who We Serve

Our program is geared toward adults who are experiencing:

  • Severe depression, anxiety, or other mood disorders
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions
  • Stress-related disorders and emotional dysregulation
  • Transitional support after a hospital stay

Each individual receives a thorough assessment to determine eligibility for our program, ensuring our PHP is the right level of care for their clinical needs.

Benefits of Our Mental Health PHP in Lehigh Valley

Here at Recovery Cove, we provide specialized care to individuals who are experiencing mental health disorders like anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. We utilize proven modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and more. These therapies have been proven to be effective based on the latest research. We also teach clients how to manage difficult emotions using techniques like mindfulness and acceptance.

Our program provides daily stability, fostering a consistent therapeutic routine while still allowing individuals to maintain their home life. This is less intensive than other programs, and it can be more private, too. Many people continue working at least part-time or going to school while receiving this level of care. Additionally, you will receive a full multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and nurses who all work together to provide integrated, person-centered care.
