To determine the most appropriate level of treatment intensity, we use a standardized multidimensional assessment based on the ASAM Criteria. This framework, developed by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, allows our clinicians to move beyond a one-size-fits-all approach and match you with the specific intensity of care that aligns with your medical, emotional, and social circumstances.
Our multidisciplinary team evaluates each individual across six key dimensions:
- Acute Intoxication and Withdrawal Potential: Assessing the immediate risk of severe withdrawal and the need for detox support.
- Biomedical Conditions and Complications: Identifying physical health issues that may influence treatment.
- Emotional, Behavioral, or Cognitive Conditions: Evaluating mental health symptoms, co-occurring disorders, and cognitive functioning.
- Readiness to Change: Gauging your motivation and willingness to engage in the recovery process.
- Relapse, Continued Use, or Continued Problem Potential: Estimating the risk of returning to substance use.
- Recovery and Living Environment: Examining the stability of your housing, peer support, and access to resources.
Each dimension is rated on a scale from 0 to 4 to determine the severity of need. These composite scores guide us in placing you within the continuum of care—ranging from Level 0.5 Early Intervention to Level 4 Medically Managed Intensive Inpatient care. At our Easton, PA facility, we specialize in Level 1 through Level 2.5 services, including our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), ensuring that your treatment is evidence-based and personalized to your unique journey.
