Trauma-informed therapy helps firefighters by specifically addressing the invisible wounds and cumulative trauma caused by repeated exposure to critical incidents and chronic suffering. Unlike standard treatment, our trauma-informed approach recognizes that unresolved trauma often drives substance use, and we focus on healing these root causes rather than just managing symptoms.
In our First Responder Program, we support firefighters through several key methods:
- Safety and Trustworthiness: We prioritize creating a confidential, non-judgmental environment that avoids re-traumatization and respects the unique experiences of emergency personnel.
- Dual-Diagnosis Treatment: Since many firefighters battle co-occurring PTSD and addiction, we treat both conditions simultaneously using evidence-based modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
- Holistic Approach: We believe in treating the whole person by integrating stress management and wellness practices, helping to restore a sense of control for those in high-stress roles.
- Flexible Care Levels: Our outpatient services, including our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), offer shift-friendly and virtual options to accommodate a firefighter’s schedule.
Heal. Grow. Connect. Live. You are not alone and this is not the end of your story.
