The Medicare Part B deductible for Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) services is $233 for the year 2025.
Because IOP is considered an outpatient service, it is covered under Medicare Part B rather than Part A. To access these benefits, you must first satisfy this annual deductible. Once the deductible has been met, the following cost-sharing rules typically apply:
- Coinsurance: You are responsible for a 20% coinsurance of the Medicare-approved amount for each covered service.
- Medicare Payment: Medicare typically pays the remaining 80% of the approved amount.
- Medigap/Supplemental Insurance: If you have a Medigap plan, it may cover some or all of your Part B deductible and coinsurance costs, potentially leaving you with no out-of-pocket balance.
- Medicare Advantage (Part C): Costs for Advantage plans vary by provider; these plans often involve specific copayments and have an established out-of-pocket maximum.
It is important to note that the Part B deductible is applied once per calendar year across all Part B medical services. If you have already met your deductible through other medical care earlier in the year, your IOP services will start immediately with only the 20% coinsurance requirement.
